The Thai language program at NUS was established in 1998 and has grown into the world's biggest program of its kind. Currently, the program offers three levels of proficiency to students across the university, namely the Elementary level (LAT1201 THAI1 and LAT2201 THAI2), the Intermediate level (LAT3201 THAI3 and LAT3202 THAI4), and the Advanced level (LAT4201 THAI5 and LAT4202 THAI6). Students majoring in Southeast Asian Studies can read 4 modules of Thai to fulfill their Southeast Asian language requirement while the others can read the Thai modules as their electives.
